Minutes from July meeting

Date of Meeting: 15 July 2008

Location: Field Head Hotel Markfield

First Time Attendees: None

Since Previous Meeting:  The planned Breakfast Club visit to RAF Cosford took place recently – quite a few cars on display (including a number of Porsches) and the trip around the various museum buildings was extremely interesting.
A number of members were in attendance at Ashby Folville meeting in July and as always the place was packed out although we all managed to park on the cricket pitch.  Just for a change the weather stayed fine and it was hood down all the way there and back.

Future Events:

·         Beaumanor Hall (near Loughborough) July 20th.  Meet at Graham Wallers house 9.00 am for bacon butties and then convoy to the Hall.
·        Silverstone Classic on July 27th.  There will be a big TIPEC presence with various regions in attendance.  If you want to convoy down meet at Leicester Forest East Services on the M1 at 8.30 am.  If you are coming let me know and we will wait for you.
·        TIPEC National Day:  Some of us have booked in for the party on the Saturday night.  If you are attending on the Sunday and want to convoy down it has been suggested you meet at Tamworth Services at 9.15 am.  When you get to Gaydon ask to get parked in the ‘TIPEC Regions’ parking area.
·        Ashby Folville – next meeting August 12th – usual arrangements – see you there – meet outside the pub at 7.00 or 8.00.
·         Northampton Balloon Festival 17th August.  Please advise if you intend to go.  We will meet at Leicester Forest East at 8:15am for the drive down.
·         Club night – Field Head Hotel – 19th August.
·         New date set for Alan Fullers run to Foxton Locks / Rutland Water etc: 28th Sept – more information at next club night.
·         Central and EMR WOTY – everyone has been sent an e-mail giving details which are briefly
- Date: October 3rd to the 5th (two nights).

- Cost: £250 per room including dinner on Friday and Saturday and breakfast Saturday and Sunday.

AOB.

Further thoughts have been had re a lasting memorial to Paul Drury and Judy Phillips.  Just a few miles away at Alrewas there is the National Memorial Arboretum which has been laid out as a place to visit to remember people killed in service etc.

There is also a wooded area that has been planted to remember those who have been killed in vehicle accidents.  The idea is to purchase a plaque and place it next to a tree of your choice as a lasting memorial.  We (Chris and Kathy) intend to do this and put it to members present that if any one else wanted to contribute we would purchase the plaque on behalf of the Region (or indeed TIPEC).  It was agreed that this would be a good thing to do.

More information at the next meeting by which time we will have spoken to the respective families of Paul and Judy.

Christmas Party 2008:

I know it is only July but the Field Head Hotel already have their Christmas Party plans in place and to ensure we get in we have provisionally booked 20 places.  The date was to be Saturday the 13th December but has subsequently been changed to the 6th.  The price for the meal range from £14 for two courses to £19 for four courses.  Special rate accommodation is also available.  Here is also entertainment on the night so it should be a good night.  A deposit of £5 per person is required to reserve a place.  Please let me know if you want to attend – no urgency at the moment but it would be nice to know a.s.a.p. how many places we will need to reserve.

Immediate dates for your diary:

20th July            Beaumanor Hall Car Show
27th July            Silverstone Classic
2nd / 3rd July       TIPEC Party / National Day at Gaydon
12th August        Ashby Folville
17th August        Northampton Balloon Festival
19th August Club Night – Field Head Hotel

End of notes.
